Community of Madrid Honors 14 Personalities and Entities with Grand Cross of Dos de Mayo

The regional government will recognize figures from sports, culture, commerce, and social work at the May 2nd ceremony at the Real Casa de Correos.

The Community of Madrid has announced the awarding of the Grand Cross of the Order of Dos de Mayo to 14 personalities, institutions, and social entities, in recognition of their outstanding work and commitment to the region.

This award, which will be presented at the Real Casa de Correos during the institutional act of the Community of Madrid Day on May 2nd, aims to honor professional careers, solidarity, and the example that these figures and organizations represent for Madrid society.
Among those distinguished are figures from the sports world, such as a renowned football club president and film producer, and a prominent Formula 1 driver. A top athlete in adapted sports and the Vuelta Ciclista a España will also be recognized for their relevance in the national and international sports scene.
Traditional Madrid commerce will be represented by an emblematic establishment, while art and culture will be honored through a renowned historical painter and a journalist with a long career in radio. A club that merges gastronomy, heritage, and culture will also receive this recognition.
In the socio-health field, the work of an ICU head at a Madrid hospital will be awarded for their dedication during the pandemic, as well as the career of a leader of an important organization for people with disabilities. Professionals from a wildlife recovery center will be recognized for their vocation in conserving the region's fauna.
Finally, two entities celebrating their centenary, a technology multinational and a university hospital, will receive the decoration. Additionally, a group of students from an institute in Parla will be honored for their bravery and commitment in saving a life in Ireland, highlighting their civic responsibility.
