The inauguration of Iberseries & Platino Industria, coinciding with the start of filming for Woody Allen's next film in the region, places Madrid "once again in the eyes of the entire world," according to the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. The event, organized by the Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers, EGEDA, and the Fundación Secuoya with the support of the regional government, brings together international film and television producers, investors, and distributors until October 2nd.
Díaz Ayuso pointed out that Madrid is part of a "great cultural and economic power" of over 800 million Spanish and Portuguese speakers, whose capacity to project stories worldwide is "increasingly greater." The president highlighted how this "network of affections" contributes to being "bigger and more universal."
The previous edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria was the most international and attended in its history, accrediting over 2,700 professionals, with participation from 54 countries and more than 1,500 companies. The audiovisual industry represents 2.6% of Madrid's GDP, with 3,500 companies generating 30,000 direct jobs.
