The 21 DISTRITOS program, promoted by the Culture, Tourism, and Sport Area of the Madrid City Council, presents the fifth edition of the Multiculturas festival. From October 1st to 24th, the city will host a diverse range of free artistic offerings for all audiences, including live music, theater, puppetry, circus, and dance.
The festival kicks off on Thursday, October 1st, at 7:00 PM, at the Galileo Cultural Center (Chamberí district), with Carmen Aciar's musical performance 'De Amores y Miedos'. The following day, Friday the 2nd, at the same time, the Casa de Vacas Cultural Center (Retiro district) will host the Lila Horovitz Trío with 'Música madre'. On Saturday the 3rd, at 12:00 PM, Capricho Park (Barajas district) will be the stage for 'Sueños encantados', an acrobatic and circus theater show by the Colombian company Tchyminigagua.
On Saturday afternoon, at 7:00 PM, the Paco de Lucía Cultural Center (Latina district) will present 'Buenas noches, Buenos Aires' by Galaxias Creativas, a musical show dedicated to Argentine women composers and performers. On Sunday, October 4th, at 12:00 PM, the same venue will feature 'Manuelita, mi casa es el mundo', inspired by the work of writer and composer María Elena Walsh. On October 5th, at 8:00 PM, the ‘Encuentros con Altura’ cycle will bring BB ASUL's acoustic concert 'Música triste para chicas lindas' to the Moncloa Lighthouse (Moncloa-Aravaca district). These three shows are supported by Buenos Aires en Madrid.
The program continues on Thursday, October 8th, at 7:00 PM, at the auditorium of Aluche Park (Latina district) with a concert by La Bomba de Tiempo, an improvised percussion group. On Sunday the 11th, at 8:30 PM, the band Vermú will perform their album 'Los Zagales' at the open-air auditorium of La Vaguada Park (Fuencarral-El Pardo district).
On October 16th, at 8:00 PM, the Nave de Terneras (Arganzuela district) will host the 'afrofuturist' collective Fulu Miziki from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. On Saturday the 17th, at the Nicolás Salmerón Cultural Center (Chamartín district), at 7:00 PM, Peruvians Alejandro y María Laura will offer a concert. In parallel, the Sanchinarro-Hispanidad Cultural Center (Hortaleza district) will feature 'Empaque', an award-winning juggling and Andalusian folklore performance by Chicharrón Circo Flamenco, also available on Sunday the 18th at the Nicolás Salmerón Cultural Center. At the same time, the Paco de Lucía Cultural Center (Latina) will present 'Compromisos del no ver'.
On Monday the 19th, at 8:00 PM, Raquel Vega and Julián Olivares will perform at the Moncloa Lighthouse (Moncloa-Aravaca) with a musical program featuring Brazilian music, jazz, and folklore. On October 23rd, at 7:00 PM, Mahmud y no solo Mahmud will be presented at the Antonio Machado Cultural Center (San Blas-Canillejas district) by Puntocero Company. Simultaneously, at the Valdebernardo Cultural Center (Vicálvaro district), Mari Cruz Planchuelo will perform 'NERA Viaje a Isla Madre', a puppet and visual theater piece.
To conclude, on Saturday, October 24th, at 7:00 PM, Eduardo Guerrero will present 'Guerrero' at the Temple of Debod (Moncloa-Aravaca). At the same time, at the Casa de Vacas Cultural Center (Retiro), Micaela Chauque will offer the folk music concert 'Corazón de Agua'.
The Multiculturas festival aims to be a meeting point between Madrid's audience and artists from diverse origins and cultures, with creation as its central theme. The 21 DISTRITOS program supports the artistic community, encourages citizen participation in the city's cultural life, and fosters new audiences.
