Isabel Díaz Ayuso, President of the Community of Madrid, has defended the region's fiscal model, describing it as "balanced" and not "confiscatory," asserting that it is not a "carnivorous plant" against work, savings, or investment. "That is why we have the lowest personal income tax in Spain and have eliminated all regional taxes, most of which were artificial inventions to keep taking money from everyone," she stated.
The head of the regional executive has championed the 35 tax cuts implemented by her government since 2019, which have benefited families, self-employed individuals, students, and have helped combat depopulation.
During the inauguration of the "Ideas para crecer" forum by the Círculo de Empresarios, Díaz Ayuso recalled the launch of Spain's first Taxpayer Defense Law. According to the president, this law treats citizens "not as suspects," but as individuals to be "thanked for all their contributions," acknowledging and apologizing when the Administration makes mistakes, and also creating a fiscal folder to track personal tax information in real-time.
