The course, to be held in October, aims to provide tools to understand the repercussions of compassion fatigue, recognize its warning signs, and develop prevention and self-care strategies. Registration is open until October 6.
Compassion fatigue is a significant risk for professionals who continuously care for individuals experiencing suffering, illness, trauma, or vulnerability. Prolonged exposure to these situations can have an emotional impact that, if not identified and addressed properly, can affect both the professional's well-being and the quality of their interventions.
The general objective of the training is for attendees to understand the concept, identify its manifestations, and acquire practical tools to prevent and cope with it in a professional setting. It will differentiate compassion fatigue from other related concepts such as burnout, stress, and professional exhaustion.
The methodology will be theoretical-practical, encouraging participant involvement with examples from everyday situations. The instructor will be Montse Pérez García, a general health psychologist and member of the Psychosocial Care Team at Fundación Instituto San José.
The training is organized by the School of Long-Term Care for the Elderly of the Community of Madrid and collaborates with the Alzheimer Center Fundación Reina Sofía. It is intended for professionals in health and social care centers working with individuals suffering from neurodegenerative diseases.
A minimum of ten participants are required for the training to take place. For any registration issues, please contact [formación.alzh.reinasofia@madrid.org](mailto:formación.alzh.reinasofia@madrid.org). Participants are reminded to register only for training that aligns with their professional or family role.
