“"The most significant aspect of this weather report is not only the accumulated rainfall, which will reach 15 liters per square meter in just 60 minutes, but also the intensity of the associated phenomena. AEMET warns that the storms will most likely be accompanied by hail and, especially dangerous, very strong wind gusts."

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow level warning for the entire Community of Madrid, alerting about storms, hail, and strong wind gusts expected to begin from 8:00 PM this Thursday, April 23.
The meteorological instability is projected to last from 8:00 PM on April 23, 2026, until 5:59 AM on April 24, 2026. Accumulations of up to 15 liters per square meter are anticipated in just 60 minutes, accompanied by hail and intense winds.
Given this forecast, residents are advised to take precautions, particularly in areas prone to flooding. It is crucial to inspect roofs, downspouts, and drains to ensure proper functioning and prevent leaks. Checking sump pumps in basements and storing toxic products in secure locations are also recommended.
For those driving, it is suggested to pull over to a safe place if the rain becomes very heavy and to avoid crossing flooded fords or road sections. If a vehicle becomes immobilized by water, it is essential to abandon it and move to higher ground. Staying informed through local radio stations and having a flashlight, radio, and batteries are additional preventive measures.
