An elderly woman has been seriously injured by smoke inhalation after a fire broke out this Thursday in an apartment on Sánchez Preciado street, in Madrid's Tetuán district.

The incident occurred on a third floor, and flames had already affected the building's facade by the time Madrid City Firefighters arrived. The firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze and prevented it from spreading to neighboring apartments due to their rapid response.
Samur-Civil Protection paramedics treated the affected woman at the scene. She suffered severe smoke inhalation, was stabilized, and subsequently transported to a hospital with a serious prognosis.
The causes of the fire are currently under investigation.
