Woman Arrested After Stabbing Man in Malasaña

A woman has been arrested by the National Police after allegedly stabbing a man in a residence in the Malasaña neighborhood, within Madrid's Centro district.

The incident took place early this morning, around 1:15 AM, in an apartment located at 8 Santa Bárbara street. National Police officers responded to the scene after receiving an alert about a man with a stab wound inside the dwelling.
The victim, a 49-year-old Spanish man, sustained wounds to his chest, back, and face. The alleged assailant is a 30-year-old Canadian woman who was working as a prostitute. According to her statement to the police, she acted in self-defense following an argument with the man, who she claims attempted to force her into a sexual act she did not want.

"The woman stated she acted in self-defense after an argument with the man, although the National Police ultimately proceeded with her arrest."

The injured man was transported to the Hospital Clínico with a reserved prognosis, as reported by sources from Emergencias 112 of the Community of Madrid.
