The Madrid Press Association has appointed Victorino Martín as bullfighting advisor for the 126th edition of the Corrida de la Prensa, to be held on May 28th at the Las Ventas Bullring.

The bullfighting event, a traditional fixture for the journalistic entity, will showcase a luxury lineup. Bullfighters Diego Urdiales, Roca Rey, and Bruno Aloi will face bulls from the prestigious Juan Pedro Domecq ranch in pursuit of the APM's Golden Ear.
Mónica Tourón, Secretary General of the APM, presented the event, emphasizing the enthusiasm with which the association's president, María Rey, approaches this celebration, viewing it as a responsibility to uphold the association's historical traditions. Tourón also praised the work of bullfighting chroniclers, describing their reports as 'authentic literary treatises' due to their linguistic richness and use of rhetorical devices.
The figure of Vicente Zabala Portolés was evoked, credited with reviving and restoring the prestige of this bullfight for journalists. The event was attended by members of the APM's Board of Directors, as well as Víctor Zabala, manager of Plaza 1, and the renowned bullfighter José Ortega Cano.
Rafael G. Garrido, president of Plaza 1, the management company of Las Ventas, presented the official poster, noting the significant anticipation that led to tickets selling out over two months in advance. Garrido highlighted the resurgence of bullfighting, particularly among young audiences, and the role of events like this in cultural preservation.
Miguel Martín, managing director of the Center for Bullfighting Affairs of the Community of Madrid, thanked Plaza 1 for assembling a 'top-tier' lineup, fulfilling the regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso's wish for the Corrida de la Prensa to be a significant event. Martín concluded by expressing hopes for a beautiful day and success for the bullfighters.
