The event featured a varied program including a workshop on organoids, where attendees simulated the design of scientific projects and reflected on their ethical implications. Another activity, titled 'The Cell is a Universe,' invited visitors to explore the differences between animal, plant, and bacterial cells through a large illustrated screen and books with images from electron microscopy.
For younger audiences, 'Once Upon a Cell: Create Your Own Cell with Play-Doh!' was organized, a three-dimensional and entertaining activity to learn about cell components. Additionally, the 'Hidden World of Microbiology' workshop used an interactive game to discover microorganisms on everyday surfaces and encouraged participants to grow their own cultures at home.
The interactive immersion 'Brain Detectives' allowed participants to explore human brain functions and neurodegenerative diseases through an Escape Room format and three-dimensional models.
The highlight of the day was the concert by Las Biolocas, a scientific rock band composed of members from the scientific community, who performed covers of pop and rock classics with ingenious biological lyrics. The concert, featuring songs like 'Las chicas hacen ciencia' and 'El Paramecio solitario,' generated applause, laughter, and dancing among the audience.
The event's success was attributed to the commitment and dedication of a team of volunteers, whom the CBM thanked for their efforts in conveying a love for science and for their work in setup and cleanup, making the 2026 European Researchers' Night an unforgettable occasion.
