The Community of Madrid has declared Vicente Aleixandre's home, known as Velintonia, an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) in the category of Intangible Heritage, recognizing its fundamental role in contemporary Spanish culture.

This measure aims to highlight Madrid's historical significance in consolidating the Spanish and European poetic tradition. Velintonia, located at number 3 of the former Wellingtonia street, was an epicenter for contemporary poetry, transcending its physical limits thanks to its spirit of creation and welcoming new generations of writers.

"This meeting point for the Generation of '27 was not only the home of the Nobel Prize winner, but primarily a welcoming space where friendship and creative intuition were fostered, allowing the dissemination of new expressive currents."

To ensure its preservation, the Regional Government had already protected the property in 2022, declaring it an Asset of Patrimonial Interest (BIP). Subsequently, the regional executive acquired the property at a public auction last year for 3.1 million euros, with the vision of converting it into the future House of Poetry.
The central purpose of this initiative is to revive the literary and meeting atmosphere that characterized Vicente Aleixandre's home. A diverse program is planned, including talks, conferences, and exhibitions, with the dual objective of disseminating the work of the Generation of '27 and promoting new literary creation in Madrid in the 21st century.
