The intervention, set to last until August, will affect traffic on the M-30 between kilometers 9+700 and 10+400, reducing the number of lanes per direction from four to three.
The work focuses on waterproofing, milling, and asphalting the deck, as well as replacing expansion joints. New noise barriers will also be installed, designed for greater acoustic attenuation, featuring perforated metal elements and rock wool sound-absorbing material, integrated into a modern aluminum tubular system.
The pavement will be entirely sound-absorbing, and all expansion joints will be replaced. The total investment for both phases of the renovation amounts to four million euros.
These actions follow a first phase, completed this month, which included cleaning the structure, rehabilitating piers, abutments, and the deck, and applying protective paint.
The project is part of the 'Vallecas Abierto' initiative, promoted by the City Council to transform the area surrounding the bridge by remodeling pedestrian spaces and creating vertical gardens. The objective is to improve connectivity between the Puente de Vallecas and Retiro districts, increasing accessibility and mitigating the historical barrier effect of the infrastructure.
