The Independent Central Union of Civil Servants (CSIF) has urged the Community of Madrid to adopt a 35-hour work week for its public employees, following the precedent set by the State General Administration.

The union has sent a letter to the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, requesting the immediate convening of the General Negotiation Table. This action comes on the same day that the 35-hour work week came into force in the State General Administration, an achievement that CSIF attributes to its years of advocacy.

"There are no reasons to maintain differences between administrations on an issue that already has broad support in the public sphere."

For the CSIF Madrid section, implementing this measure is more than just an improvement in labor rights. They consider it a key strategy for the region, highlighting its benefits in reconciling employees' family life, attracting young talent to public employment, and enhancing the quality of services offered to citizens.
The union is pressuring the regional Government to activate negotiation mechanisms without further delay. They argue that there are no technical or political justifications to postpone a measure that already has broad consensus and represents a significant step forward in modernizing the autonomous administration.
