This first edition of 'Madrid a la Carpa' aims to be a meeting point for various circus expressions, from humor and music to high-risk disciplines. The program is designed for all ages, asserting the circus as a space for imagination and shared emotion.
The initiative features the collaboration of illustrator Ana Juan, recipient of the National Illustration Award and a regular contributor to international publications like The New Yorker, who created the event poster, bringing a poetic vision to the circus world.
The series kicks off on May 13 with the international company Faltan7 and their show SinSolo, a performance exploring human relationships and the importance of collectivity through acrobatics and Chinese pole. On May 14, artist Fakir Testa, known for his Guinness records as a sword swallower, will present Una experiencia alucinante, a show combining risk, humor, and audience participation.
On May 16, Fuman Artist will offer a show blending humor, live music, and circus techniques, while the Kanbahiota Company will close the series on May 17 with Play Time, a work inspired by The Ship of Fools that reflects on play and freedom from a childlike perspective.
With 'Madrid a la Carpa', the Teatro Circo Price reaffirms its commitment to Madrid's circus scene, promoting it as an innovative and accessible artistic discipline. Following this series, the Teatro Circo Price will continue its programming from May 22 to 31 with the Circus Baobab company, presenting a visually impactful show combining circus and dance with Guinean acrobats.
