Talía Awards 2026 Announce Nominees, 'Les Misérables' and 'Wicked' Lead

The Spanish Academy of Performing Arts has announced the nominations for the Talía Awards 2026 in Madrid, with 'Les Misérables' and 'Wicked' receiving the most nominations in a diverse edition covering theater, dance, circus, and opera.

The nominations for the Talía Awards 2026 were revealed this Tuesday at the San Isidro Museum in Madrid. The announcement was made by actress Anabel Alonso and illusionist Jorge Blass, both members of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Academy of Performing Arts.
During the ceremony, the new award statuette, designed by sculptor Esperanza d'Ors, was also unveiled. The winners will be announced at the awards gala, scheduled for May 18.
In the text theater category, 'Esencia', 'Memorias de Adriano', and 'Vendrán los alienígenas y tendrán tus ojos' are competing for the best show award. In the musical theater category, the competition is between 'Cenicienta', 'Les Misérables', and 'Wicked'.
Dance nominations include 'Calentamiento' from Centro Danza Matadero, 'CÈL·LULA #5: La Quijá' from Mercat de les Flors, and 'La mort i la primavera' from La Veronal. In circus, 'Circlassica', 'Conhort', and 'Empaque' are vying for the award. For opera, 'El Vizconde y Gato por liebre', 'El dúo de La Africana', and 'Yerma' are among the candidates.
Among the performers, Gema Matarranz (for 'Dysphoria'), Irene Escolar (for 'Personas, lugares y cosas'), and Nathalie Poza (for 'Un tranvía llamado deseo') are competing for Best Lead Actress in text theater. In the male category, Ángel Ruiz (for 'El rey de la farándula'), Lluís Homar (for 'Memorias de Adriano'), and Pablo Derqui (for 'Un tranvía llamado deseo') are the nominees.
The Academy also recognized supporting roles, nominating Esperanza Elipe (for 'Mihura: el último comediógrafo'), Mamen García (for 'Caperucita en Manhattan'), and Natalia Hernández (for 'El entusiasmo') in the female category. In the male supporting category, Joaquín Climent (for 'Esencia') and Luis Bermejo, among others, were highlighted.
Additionally, candidates for Best Performing Arts Show of Hispanic Authorship in New York were announced, with 'Torera', 'Mexodus', and 'Los soles truncos' competing for the accolade.
