The situation at the Hortaleza Municipal Sports Center has evolved from isolated issues to a structural concern directly impacting daily operations and the safety of its users and staff. Various municipal technical studies, conducted between October 2025 and February 2026, confirm that deficiencies not only persist but have worsened without effective intervention from the responsible administration.
One of the most critical cases is observed in the indoor swimming pool, where humidity measurements consistently exceed 70%, sometimes reaching over 90%, far above regulatory limits. Although these problems were identified in October 2025, subsequent reports indicate that proposed solutions have yet to be implemented.
The situation is not limited to the interior of the center. In February 2026, a technical inspection detected severe structural deterioration in the enclosure of one of the outdoor courts, where the so-called Cubo Gym is located. The report describes sectioned metal posts, widespread corrosion, and a deformation of the enclosure with an inward tilt, creating a real risk of structural collapse.
Furthermore, the sports pavilion, one of the busiest areas, has had malfunctioning separation curtains since March 7, preventing simultaneous activities. The provisional solution, a canvas suspended from the ceiling, highlights the lack of a definitive response to a problem that directly affects the capacity and service offered to residents.
This pattern of detected problems, defined corrective measures, and deficient execution suggests a management issue beyond simple maintenance. Reports indicate that certain repairs, such as those to the pool's ventilation systems or deteriorated structures, are the responsibility of the Hortaleza Municipal Board. Although the matter was addressed in the district Plenary Session in March, political groups did not have all the relevant information.
Meanwhile, the center continues to operate with limitations and temporary solutions, compromising the quality of service and conditions for sports activities. This situation raises questions about the attention municipal sports facilities receive and the consequences of their progressive deterioration for users.
