A fire that broke out this Thursday on the ground floor of a building located on Calle Godella, in the Villaverde district, has left seven people affected by smoke inhalation.

The incident required the immediate intervention of the Madrid Fire Department, who worked to extinguish the flames that mainly affected the living room of the home. The property suffered damage from both the fire and the accumulation of smoke and heat in the rest of the rooms.
During the rescue efforts, two National Police officers managed to evacuate a woman and a pet through a window, after removing a bar from the gate with the help of local residents.
Personnel from Samur-Protección Civil treated a total of five residents and the two police officers for mild smoke inhalation. Three of those affected were taken to hospitals for a more thorough medical check-up.
