The Community of Madrid has presented the 'Plan Vive Sanitario', which will offer 120 affordable homes for healthcare professionals under 35 in San Sebastián de los Reyes, as part of a development of nearly 1,000 units.

The regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, announced on Thursday the 'Plan Vive Sanitario', an initiative by the Community of Madrid designed to help healthcare professionals under 35 access affordable housing. The first 120 units will be located in San Sebastián de los Reyes, within a project that includes the construction of nearly 1,000 homes.
As explained by the president during an informational meeting, the plan aims to address one of the main barriers for healthcare workers at the start of their careers: finding economically viable housing near their workplace. The regional government believes that facilitating the settlement of doctors, nurses, and other health professionals in the region will improve the coverage of positions and the quality of public service.
This measure is part of the Community of Madrid's Housing Shock Plan, which aims to increase the supply of affordable rental housing. Currently, the regional executive is promoting more than 70,000 homes with some form of public protection, in a residential market marked by price pressure and access difficulties for young people and families.
The 'Plan Vive', a broader program of which this healthcare line is a part, foresees 14,000 homes, with a special concentration in the metropolitan south, where over 4,500 units are expected. According to data from the regional government, 5,785 properties have already been delivered, and another 5,939 are under construction in 26 municipalities, in addition to more than 2,000 pending tender.
The 'Plan Vive Sanitario' is a specific line within the regional housing policy, focused on a sector essential for public services. With this action, Ayuso's government aims to combine the increase in affordable rental supply with concrete strategies to attract and retain young healthcare talent in the region.
The initiative is part of the Community of Madrid's broader strategy to address the housing access crisis, prioritizing key professional sectors such as healthcare, where retaining young staff is crucial for the stability and quality of the public health system.
