The Community of Madrid has inaugurated a new public institute in Rivas Vaciamadrid, which will offer 1,000 ESO and Bachillerato places starting from the next academic year 2026/27.

The new educational center, named after researcher Margarita Salas, is the sixth public institute in the town and will open its doors in September. The Minister of Education, Mercedes Zarzalejo, visited the facilities built by the regional executive.
The Ministry of Education has invested 10.3 million euros in the construction of this center, which will operate as a bilingual school. It will have four ESO groups and will receive students from five public primary schools in the municipality: CEIP Jarama, Las Cigüeñas, Dulce Chacón, Saramago, and José Iturzaeta.
Zarzalejo highlighted that the naming of the center pays tribute to Margarita Salas, a pioneering Spanish scientist in biochemistry and molecular biology, a disciple of Severo Ochoa, and associated with the CSIC.
Concurrently, in Rivas Vaciamadrid, the Community of Madrid is completing the Hispanidad public school. This project, with an investment exceeding 7.4 million euros, will add 27 group classrooms for 675 students, as well as support classrooms, a library, a gymnasium, and a sports court.
Since 2019, the Community of Madrid has allocated 32.4 million euros to public educational infrastructure in Rivas Vaciamadrid, enabling the creation of 2,600 new educational places.
