The Federico García Lorca promenade in Villa de Vallecas has reopened following a complete renovation project with an investment of 1.9 million euros.

Residents of Villa de Vallecas can now enjoy the renovated Federico García Lorca promenade, as improvement works have concluded. The renovation covered an area of 10,458 m² and involved an investment of 1.9 million euros.
The works included reconfiguring the flowerbeds and pavements, which were deteriorated, and incorporating new biosanitary zones and children's play areas. These enhancements aim to revitalize the promenade and beautify the surroundings of the Villa de Vallecas Senior Center.
The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, visited the site and emphasized that the primary goal of the renovation is to "improve the quality of life for residents," describing the promenade as "the true heart" of the historic center of Villa de Vallecas.
The renovation also carries a cultural purpose, highlighting the figure of the poet Federico García Lorca. Flowerbeds and paving patterns have been designed with circular shapes evoking elements from his literary work, such as the moon. Additionally, the area around the commemorative monolith for victims of toxic oil syndrome has been improved.
This project is part of the municipal program for improving historic town centers, initiated in 2019, which has seen investments exceeding 27 million euros in districts such as Carabanchel Bajo, Aravaca, Hortaleza, Vicálvaro, El Pardo, and Barajas.
