Real Madrid announced this Tuesday that it had made a formal offer of 150 million euros to Atlético de Madrid for the Argentine player Julián Álvarez's federative rights. According to information from the white club, the proposal was agreed upon after a meeting of its Board of Directors.
This operation comes just a few days after the presidential elections at Real Madrid, held last Sunday. During the election campaign, Florentino Pérez had announced his intention to present a 150 million euro offer for a Champions League-level footballer, an acquisition that, if completed, would become the most expensive signing in the history of the white club.
According to the statement released by Real Madrid, the offer was communicated to Atlético de Madrid within the framework of the existing good relations between both entities.
After studying and evaluating the proposal, Atlético de Madrid thanked the offer made, although it ultimately rejected it, referring to the Argentine forward's release clause.
For the moment, no further details have emerged regarding a possible future negotiation between the two clubs or about the next steps related to the player.
