The announcement was made during an event at the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid, attended by key representatives from Puerto Rico's tourism sector and Ifema Madrid. Willianette Robles, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, highlighted that this designation will enable the island to enhance its presence in European markets.
Robles stated that being a FITUR 2027 Partner offers an opportunity to showcase the island's diverse experiences and strengthen alliances with the European market. Puerto Rico's participation comes amid a significant expansion of its tourism industry, with a record 14.5 million passengers recorded at its main international airports over the past year.
Puerto Rican authorities believe the visibility gained at Fitur will attract new investments and business opportunities, consolidating the destination's international presence in strategic markets like Spain and the rest of Europe. The island's tourism offerings combine natural attractions, historical heritage such as Old San Juan (a UNESCO World Heritage site), gastronomy, music, and a distinct cultural identity.
For Fitur 2027, Puerto Rico is preparing an immersive exhibition space designed to bring visitors closer to the island's culture, creativity, and hospitality, projecting a contemporary image and reinforcing its position as a leading Caribbean tourist destination. José Vicente de los Mozos, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Ifema Madrid, expressed his honor in welcoming Puerto Rico as a partner and supporting its recent tourism growth.
The upcoming edition of Fitur will once again gather thousands of professionals and companies from the international tourism sector, solidifying its role as a major global business and promotion platform.
