The Prado 30 building, recovered by the Madrid City Council, will be transformed into a new municipal facility housing a cultural center and a health center, with an expected opening in the second quarter of 2027.

This project will add 1,600 square meters for cultural use and a similar area for the future health center. The deputy mayor and municipal spokesperson, Inma Sanz, announced the initiative, highlighting the recovery of the property previously occupied by the La Ingobernable collective.

"They were usurping the building. They were shameless people who wanted to take over a heritage belonging to all Madrileños and who basically used it for their parties, to put it clearly."

The deputy mayor was accompanied by the delegate for Public Works and Equipment, Paloma García Romero. Consolidation work on the building, which had serious structural problems, will conclude in autumn. 7.4 million euros have been invested to reinforce the structure and pillars of the protected building, located in the Espacio de la Luz.
Currently, efforts are focused on the consolidation phase and the start of the direct intervention by the City Council in the cultural section. Both actions are progressing simultaneously to accelerate the space's availability for residents of the Central District.
The future municipal facility will feature an exhibition hall, study room, classrooms, and an area for sports activities such as yoga. The cultural section will occupy one of the building's two large spaces, sharing its area with the health resource. Sanz emphasized that the Community of Madrid will simultaneously develop the health center component, a facility highly demanded by local residents. The City Council and the Community are coordinating efforts to ensure both parts of the facility are operational within the same timeframe.
