Pope Leo XIV begins his visit to Spain in Madrid with a packed schedule

The Pontiff will land in Barajas on Saturday, June 6, and participate in numerous institutional, religious, and social events until the 12th.

Pope Leo XIV begins his first apostolic journey to Spain this Saturday, June 6, a seven-day visit that will start in Madrid, continue to Barcelona, and conclude in the Canary Islands.

The Pontiff will land at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport at 10:30 AM, where he will be officially received. Subsequently, the King and Queen, the Princess of Asturias, and Infanta Sofía will hold a private meeting with the Pontiff at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
At 12:30 PM, the Pope will participate in an institutional meeting with authorities, representatives of civil society, and members of the diplomatic corps, where he will deliver his first speech of the trip.
In the afternoon, at 6:00 PM, he will visit the Cedia 24 Horas social center of Cáritas Madrid, located in the Lucero neighborhood, Latina district. There he will greet center operators and users and receive a hand-carved wooden tree made by users of the Cáritas Madrid Addiction Treatment Center. The performance of Niña Pastori is also scheduled.
At 8:30 PM, after a tour in the Popemobile through Madrid, he will participate in the Prayer Vigil with young people in Plaza de Lima. At this event, the Pope will deliver his second speech and answer questions from young people on topics such as polarization, suffering, vocation, and the meaning of life. The vigil will feature performances by Hakuna, Siloé, Beret, and Lola Tuduri, among others.
On Sunday, the central event will be the Mass and Corpus Christi Procession in Plaza de Cibeles at 10:00 AM. During the celebration, the Pope will deliver a homily to the faithful gathered.
In the afternoon, at 4:30 PM, the Pontiff will hold a private meeting with members of the Order of Saint Augustine at the Apostolic Nunciature. At 6:00 PM, he will attend the Movistar Arena for the 'Tejer redes' (Weaving Networks) meeting, aimed at representatives from the world of culture, art, economy, and sports, with the participation of Antonio Banderas, Rozalén, and Carolina Marín.
Monday's agenda will be strongly institutional. At 9:30 AM, the Pope will meet with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, at the Apostolic Nunciature. Later, at 10:30 AM, he will visit the Congress of Deputies for a meeting with Spanish parliamentarians and to deliver a speech, marking the first time a Pope addresses the Spanish Parliament.
At 11:30 AM, he will visit the headquarters of the Spanish Episcopal Conference to meet with Spanish bishops, where the president of the Episcopal Conference, Luis Argüello, will give an address. In the afternoon, at 6:00 PM, the Pontiff will visit the Cathedral of Santa María la Real de la Almudena for a prayer and homage to the Virgin.
At 7:00 PM, he will participate in a meeting with the diocesan community at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, hosted by Christian Gálvez and Patricia Pardo, and will include performances by David Bustamante and magician Jorge Blass.
Tuesday will begin in Madrid with the Pope's meeting with the visit's volunteers, scheduled for 10:20 AM in Hall 3 of IFEMA Madrid, before departing for Barcelona at 11:10 AM.
In Barcelona, the Pontiff will participate in the midday prayer at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia, and at 8:00 PM, he will preside over a prayer vigil at the Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys.
On Wednesday, he will visit Brians 1 prison, Montserrat Abbey, and the Church of San Agustín in Barcelona. In the afternoon, at 7:30 PM, he will celebrate Mass at the Sagrada Familia Basilica and preside over the inauguration of the tower of Jesus Christ.
On Thursday, the Pope will travel to Gran Canaria, where he will participate in a meeting with migrant reception initiatives at the port of Arguineguín and meet with bishops and other clergy at the Cathedral of Santa Ana. He will celebrate a Mass at the Gran Canaria Stadium.
On Friday, the final day, the Pontiff will travel to Tenerife for meetings with migrants and integration initiatives. He will celebrate the final Mass of the trip at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The farewell ceremony will take place at Los Rodeos, with the participation of King Felipe VI, before departing for Rome.
