The National Police intervened at the Gambia Embassy in Madrid this Tuesday morning to prevent incidents arising from a large gathering of migrants seeking vulnerability certificates.

The events unfolded around 10:00 AM at the diplomatic headquarters, located on Hernández Iglesias Street in the Centro district. Officers from the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation.
The presence of the officers helped de-escalate tensions among the Gambian citizens gathered in the area. The intervention concluded without arrests, and order was restored within minutes, according to police sources.

"No, it's not Africa: it's the Gambian embassy in Madrid."

JUPOL · Main union of the National Police
The main union of the National Police, JUPOL, stated that this situation is a consequence of the regularization process for undocumented foreign nationals promoted by the Government. They believe this measure is causing "genuine chaos" across much of the country, which they described as "entirely foreseeable".
The vulnerability certificate is one of three avenues, alongside family situation and rootedness, to access the extraordinary regularization process driven by the central Government. This initiative has drawn criticism from various administrations due to a lack of resources to manage the volume of applications.
