The trial against the accused, identified as S.K., took place this week at the Provincial Court of Madrid. The man worked for the company Unión de Relojeros Certificados SLU, which specializes in the repair of watches and jewelry in the capital.
According to the indictment, the employee allegedly took advantage of the trust placed in him by clients and colleagues to keep, between 2016 and October 2019, numerous watches handed in for repair that were never returned to their rightful owners.
Among the missing pieces are watches from renowned luxury brands such as Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe, Hublot, Cartier, Blancpain, Vacheron Constantin, and Frank Muller. The prosecution identifies up to 31 victims, including individuals and jewelry stores, with claims in some cases exceeding 40,000 euros.
The public prosecutor's office estimates that 101 watches were allegedly stolen, bringing the total value of the items to 304,908 euros. The acts are classified as a continuous crime of misappropriation, a behavior that would have caused significant financial damage to the affected parties.
In addition to the requested prison sentence, the prosecution is seeking a fine of twenty months and for the accused to compensate the victims for the amounts claimed. It also requests the subsidiary civil liability of the employer company, which would oblige the firm to respond financially for the damages caused.
