Orange alert in Madrid: highs of 40 degrees this Saturday

The State Meteorological Agency activates the orange alert in the Metropolitan and Henares areas and the Sierra for high temperatures.

The Community of Madrid will activate an orange alert this Saturday for maximum temperatures of up to 40 degrees in the Metropolitan and Henares areas.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued an orange alert for this Saturday, in effect between 1 PM and 8 PM, in the Metropolitan and Henares areas and the Sierra de Madrid. Maximum temperatures could reach 40 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, the Southern, Vegas, and Western zones will be under a yellow alert during the same time frame, with maximums expected to reach up to 39 degrees Celsius. Skies are expected to be mostly clear with some cloud development in the afternoon.
Temperatures will rise, exceeding 36 degrees Celsius in the Sierra and 38 degrees Celsius in the rest of the region. Winds will be light from the northeast in the morning, shifting to a northerly component around midday.
Thermometers will show highs between 22ºC and 39ºC in Madrid; between 20ºC and 40ºC in Alcalá de Henares; between 20ºC and 40ºC in Aranjuez; between 21ºC and 38ºC in Collado Villalba; between 21ºC and 39ºC in Getafe; and between 21ºC and 39ºC in Navalcarnero.
