The directors of the Noches del Botánico festival, Ramón Martín and Julio Martí, have expressed confidence that the city's schedule, including the visit of Pope Leo XIV between June 6th and 9th, will not affect the first week of the music event, which kicks off on June 3rd. The primary reason is that tickets for those dates are already completely sold out.
"The entire first week is already sold out, there are no tickets left," stated Martí, who also downplayed concerns about potential mobility issues for accessing the Royal Botanical Garden Alfonso XIII. "For access to the Royal Botanical Garden Alfonso XIII, you have the metro, you have taxis, you have buses... Honestly, not even a World Cup, nor the Pope's visit, nor Donald Trump," the director added humorously.
Ramón Martín echoed this sentiment, recalling that 80% of the festival's tickets have already been sold. However, he acknowledged that the Pontiff's presence might cause some effect "in terms of traffic or movements around Madrid," though he clarified, "Given the schedules, I don't think it will affect us, honestly. Not in terms of tickets, for now. For other things, maybe, regarding transport, well, perhaps, yes," he noted regarding the potential impact on access times and transport services.
The overlap between Madrid's schedule and the festival's musical events is significant. On June 6th, the day of the Pope's arrival, Bad Bunny will perform a concert at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium, while Rigoberta Bandini will perform at Noches del Botánico. The following day, June 7th, Pope Leo XIV's presence in the city coincides with the performance of Two Door Cinema Club at the Botanical Garden venue.
The festival will take place at the Botanical Garden of the Complutense University of Madrid from June 3rd to July 31st. For Martín and Martí, this edition marks a special milestone as they celebrate a decade leading the project.
Martín reflected on the importance of timing and luck in event management: "As with anything, you can always have a good idea but you always need the element of luck, of being in the right place at the right time." Meanwhile, Martí defended the quality of the lineup against the rise of promoters in the festival sector, emphasizing the need for "passion for music" over purely commercial interests, and ironically suggesting that those solely seeking to "make money" should consider opening "casinos".
This edition's lineup features internationally renowned artists such as Van Morrison, John Legend, The Kooks, Rubén Blades, María Becerra, Yerai Cortés, Lia Kali, Ginebras, Love of Lesbian, Silvana Estrada, Mari Froes, Rick Astley, Diana Krall, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Zaz.
