The Community of Madrid has announced an ambitious university project aimed at promoting the use of Spanish, facilitating access to housing for young people, and strengthening Artificial Intelligence, in addition to expanding cultural and sports offerings.
This initiative, named ‘Madrid, University Region’, was presented during the inauguration of the new rector of the University of Alcalá de Henares (UAH). The plan will involve collaboration from various ministries, directly coordinated by the Ministry of Education, Science and Universities.

"Our region is currently experiencing its best moment and attracts thousands of students from all corners of the world each year. This is key for attracting talent and for projecting Spain globally."
Among the pillars of the project is the reinforcement of Artificial Intelligence, both for its study and its application in the academic field. Furthermore, a plan for student residences and housing will be promoted, and university campuses will remain open throughout the year, including the summer months.

"We want Madrid to continue to be and seize the opportunity to become an international hub for Higher Education, research, and innovation, especially in the language of Cervantes, Spanish, which today unites a community of over 600 million people across the planet."
For this year, 15.5 million euros will be allocated to scholarships for students facing economic difficulties. Additionally, the granting of 3,213 scholarships for academic excellence has been highlighted, reaffirming the commitment to supporting talent and equal opportunities in higher education.
