The new Cercanías Madrid trains, unveiled by the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, will incorporate significant improvements in capacity, accessibility, and comfort for travelers, including power outlets at every seat and more space.

The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has revealed details about the new trains that will be integrated into Madrid's Cercanías network. These new convoys promise an enhanced travel experience, distinguished by their increased capacity and a design focused on comfort and accessibility.
Currently, the first units of the T100 and T200 models are undergoing final testing at the Stadler Test Center in Albacete. These trains are expected to begin service by late summer, following the completion of homologation processes, commercial simulations, and driver training.
These trains are part of a 79-unit contract awarded by Renfe, representing an investment of 1.306 million euros. The T100 and T200 models will be the company's highest-capacity trains, capable of carrying up to 912 and 1,884 passengers respectively, which will increase the current fleet's capacity by 20%.
The new trains will operate on all lines of the Cercanías Madrid network, with the exception of line C9. This service is vital, transporting over 730,000 passengers daily, accounting for 55% of public service journeys in Spain.
Manufactured by Stadler, the trains combine single and double-deck cars, offering flexibility to adapt to demand by extending or shortening their length. Features include improved accessibility, with spaces for passengers with reduced mobility and level access at several doors. They also provide multifunctional areas for bicycles (up to six in the T100 and 18 in the T200) and baby strollers.
Regarding equipment, the trains will feature power outlets and USB ports at every seat, passenger information systems, video surveillance, LED lighting, and an efficient climate control system, all designed to optimize the user experience during daily commutes. These Iberian-gauge trains will be able to reach a maximum speed of 140 km/h and are part of Renfe's fleet renewal plan, which involves an investment of approximately 3.5 billion euros nationwide.

"The incorporation of these convoys will directly impact the quality of life for travelers and demonstrates our commitment to improving daily mobility."
