The meeting, to be held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Labour and Social Economy, will be chaired by Minister Sira Rego. During the gathering, information will be provided on the Royal Decree establishing the ordinary capacity of protection systems for unaccompanied foreign minors. This decree, an update of last year's regulations, will follow the same procedure: it will first be presented informatively at the Sectoral Conference and then require approval from the Council of Ministers.
Additionally, the day's agenda includes the presentation of the Annual Evaluation Report on the Strategy for the Eradication of Violence against Children and Adolescents, corresponding to 2023 and 2024. The implementation status of the Barnahus model in Spain and future development steps will also be discussed. This system, whose name means 'Children's House' in Icelandic, aims for a comprehensive approach to assisting child sexual abuse victims, coordinating services in a single space.
“"The Community of Madrid has scrupulously complied with legality and its obligations, and cannot and will not undertake actions that lack legal protection."
In this context, the Community of Madrid informed the Spanish Government last Monday that it will not accept new transfers of unaccompanied migrant minors. The Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Youth, Ana Dávila, argued that the extraordinary relocation mechanism has lost its legal coverage after the deadlines stipulated in Royal Decree-Law 2/2025 expired. Dávila warned that any attempt to carry out transfers outside the established procedures would be “contrary to law”.
