The expansion, considered the largest of the legislature, includes the construction of 7.2 kilometers of new track between Mar de Cristal and Valdebebas Norte. Four new stations will be created: IFEMA-Cárcavas, Ciudad de la Justicia, Hospital Isabel Zendal, and Valdebebas Norte.
Additionally, two interchange stations will be added. Mar de Cristal will connect Line 11 with lines 4 and 8, while Aeropuerto T4 will link it with Line 8 and the Cercanías commuter rail network, offering more combined mobility options.
The route will connect key points in the northeast of Madrid, including the IFEMA exhibition center, the future Ciudad de la Justicia (City of Justice), the Hospital Enfermera Isabel Zendal, Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, and the expanding neighborhood of Valdebebas Norte.
This project is expected to reduce travel times and alleviate congestion on other lines, such as Line 6, which currently handles a significant portion of the area's traffic. In parallel, work is progressing on the same diagonal line in the section between Plaza Elíptica and Conde de Casal.
On the other side of the city, the tunnel boring machine Mayrit has reached the new Madrid Río station, marking the junction of the excavation fronts between Comillas and this new stop, after tunneling under the M-30.
