The metropolitan company has awarded a contract this week that will affect a total of 744 air conditioning units. The objective is to increase the reliability and efficiency of these systems, ensuring optimal operation throughout the year and enhancing the passenger experience, especially during periods of high demand and elevated temperatures.
The investment will be distributed among 47 trains on Line 1, connecting Pinar de Chamartín with Valdecarros, and 46 trains on Line 5, which links Alameda de Osuna with Casa de Campo. These two lines serve nearly 197 million passengers annually.
The contract, with an initial duration of four years and the possibility of extension, goes beyond routine maintenance. It includes the detection and repair of faults, the replacement of worn-out components, and the continuous implementation of technical improvements to ensure the operational performance of the equipment.
