The Community of Madrid will invest nearly 3.5 million euros to renovate and optimize the air conditioning systems in 93 trains operating on Metro lines 1 and 5.

The project, approved by the Governing Council, involves comprehensive work on 744 air conditioning units. These systems are installed across 47 trains on line 1 and 46 on line 5, two of the most heavily used routes in the metropolitan network, which serve nearly 197 million passengers annually.
The maintenance contract will run for an initial period of four years, with an option to extend for an additional two years. The primary goal is to ensure that the systems operate with maximum efficiency, particularly during the summer months when outdoor temperatures are higher and passenger numbers increase.
In addition to the routine maintenance required by company regulations, the plan includes troubleshooting, replacing components worn out by intensive use, and implementing continuous technical improvements to increase the reliability of climate control in Madrid's public transport.
