Entries to Madrid experienced traffic complications on Sunday afternoon due to the return operation of the May Day long weekend. The DGT confirmed the presence of slow traffic at various access points to the capital.
Around 6 PM, the main congestion points were located on the A-3 near Arganda del Rey, the A-4 in Pinto and Valdemoro, and the A-6 in the Torrelodones area. Traffic jams were also reported in the outbound direction on the A-1 near the Jarama Circuit and on the A-3 near Fuentidueña de Tajo.
A multi-vehicle accident, which occurred at approximately 3 PM, kept the right lane of the A-1 closed in Somosierra, heading towards Burgos. Emergency services confirmed no serious injuries. Later, another incident on the A-2, near Coslada (kilometer 12) in the Madrid direction, caused traffic delays from 5 PM due to the closure of the right lane.
The special traffic operation, which began last Thursday at 3 PM, will remain active until Sunday midnight. The DGT had estimated a total of 1,180,000 long-distance road trips within the Community of Madrid during these days.
