Around 35,000 individuals gathered this Sunday in Madrid for the 13th edition of the “Madrid on the March Against Cancer” race, a solidarity event promoting prevention and supporting research.

The event, organized by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), took place on the iconic Paseo de la Castellana. Participants had the choice of two routes: a 10-kilometer course for regular runners and a 4.5-kilometer option, open to all fitness levels and those who preferred to walk the distance.
The race was attended by municipal representatives, who presided over the start and the awards ceremony. Complementary activities included non-competitive children's races in the Jardines del Descubrimiento and a family area in Plaza de Colón, offering options for all ages.

"Prevention and maintaining healthy lifestyle habits are fundamental. It is crucial to continue promoting joint initiatives to raise awareness about the risks of tobacco consumption."

The AECC, founded in 1953, brings together patients, families, volunteers, and professionals with the primary goal of improving the quality of life for those affected by cancer. The organization has set an ambitious target of achieving a 70% survival rate by 2030.
To reach this goal, the AECC plans to invest over 143 million euros in research, funding more than 750 projects involving approximately 1,500 researchers, demonstrating its strong commitment to scientific advancement in the fight against the disease.
