The political group Más Madrid has called for "open and free" access to Enrique Tierno Galván Park for all residents, criticizing Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida's management for transforming it into a venue for private events.

Mar Barberán, councilwoman for Más Madrid, has strongly criticized Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida's administration of Enrique Tierno Galván Park. Barberán accuses the mayor of turning this public space into a venue for "elite events at exorbitant prices," which, she claims, restricts access for citizens.
These criticisms were voiced during the neighborhood event 'Somos el parque' (We are the park), where Barberán advocated for unrestricted public use of the facility. The councilwoman highlighted that frequent park closures due to the proliferation of large-scale events have caused significant discontent among residents.

"Residents are fed up with their uses being blocked."

Furthermore, Barberán accused the municipal government of turning Madrid into a "theme park," with Enrique Tierno Galván Park serving as one of its "sets." Más Madrid insists that the space must be accessible free of charge and free from major events that prevent residents from enjoying it.

"We are not going to allow it."

The councilwoman concluded by reaffirming that the park must maintain its role as a meeting and leisure point for the community, rejecting any attempt to privatize or restrict its public use.
