The 'Incinerator No' Alliance has called for the VI 'San Cinerato-Incinerator No' March this June 7th in Rivas, a citizen mobilization seeking the closure of the Valdemingómez waste treatment plant.

The demonstration will begin at 11:00 AM at the intersection of Avenida de los Almendros and Calle Juncal, in Rivas. The planned route will pass through Avenida Miguel Hernández and Covibar, culminating in the parking lot of the Casa de las Asociaciones in Rivas Oeste, where a manifesto will be read.
The platform has extended an invitation to residents, associations, and social groups to join this mobilization and express their stance on the waste management model associated with the Valdemingómez plant.
Opposition to the Valdemingómez incinerator, which also extends to Madrid capital, has significant history. In September 2025, the organizing groups filed an appeal against the Integrated Environmental Authorization governing the facility's activity. This appeal included allegations concerning pit ventilation, waste storage, potential leaks, combustion processes, and control systems.
Protest leaders argue that the renewal of the environmental authorization should have included an assessment of the incinerator's effects on human health and the environment, based on a June 2024 ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union. They note that such analyses have not been conducted since 2008.
Additionally, the organizers report that these circumstances led to a complaint filed by the Regional Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Madrid (FRAVM), resulting in an investigation into the facility by the European Parliament.
The entities also express concern over the development of new residential areas near the plant, including Valdecarros, Los Berrocales, and El Cañaveral. These new developments would join other neighborhoods and municipalities already in the vicinity of the plant since its operation began in 1993, such as Villa de Vallecas, Cañada Real, Rivas-Vaciamadrid, and Getafe.
