A 47-year-old man died this Friday after being stabbed in broad daylight in central Madrid, while the alleged perpetrator of the assault, aged 46, was arrested hours later in Pozuelo de Alarcón.

The incident occurred shortly before 3:00 PM at the intersection of San Mateo and Santa Águeda streets. Emergency medical personnel and officers from the National Police were dispatched to the scene following a report of a person injured by a bladed weapon.
Upon arrival of the emergency teams, the victim was in cardiorespiratory arrest. SAMUR paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers for 40 minutes, but ultimately could only confirm his death, according to Emergencias Madrid.
The investigation, which is suspected to be related to a fight or a possible settling of scores between two homeless individuals who knew each other, was handed over to the National Police.
Officers from the National Police, with the collaboration of the Local Police of Pozuelo de Alarcón, located and arrested the alleged perpetrator around 7:00 PM in that Madrid municipality. The detainee, also Spanish, was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a homicide offense.
