Officers from the Madrid Municipal Police have arrested a man accused of a violent robbery at an establishment on Goya Street, in the Salamanca district, after he stole several items and fled by pushing security staff.

The incident occurred on April 4, around 7:45 PM, when a patrol observed store security guards attempting to detain an individual leaving the premises with a backpack. The suspect ignored their instructions, passed through the security arches, and after pushing a security guard and another woman at the entrance, fled on foot along the busy street.
In response, officers initiated a foot chase. During the pursuit, the man disregarded police orders and even crossed the road against a red light, endangering other road users.
During his escape, the individual dropped a pellet gun at a pedestrian crossing. Just a few meters later, police managed to intercept him. At that moment, the detainee, a male born in Spain in 1982, admitted to having stolen several items from the establishment.
Upon inspecting the backpack, officers found its interior lined with aluminum foil, a method used to prevent anti-theft systems from detecting products. Inside, he carried various tools, including screwdrivers and multi-purpose utensils, in addition to the stolen items: a bottle of whisky, sunglasses, and a perfume, with a combined value exceeding 570 euros. Following these events, he was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a violent robbery.
