A 40-year-old man has been arrested by the Civil Guard as the alleged perpetrator of 44 crimes committed in the provinces of Madrid, Toledo, and Cuenca, as part of 'Operation Rurejo-1'.

The Civil Guard has arrested a 40-year-old individual, the alleged perpetrator of 44 crimes in the provinces of Madrid, Toledo, and Cuenca. The operation, named 'Rurejo-1', began in late 2025 and has concluded with the recovery of 19 vehicles and specialized equipment valued at approximately 350,000 euros.
The arrested individual is accused of 18 robberies in establishments, 22 vehicle thefts, ten counts of damage, four robberies inside vehicles, and a continuous offense against road safety. Investigators determined that the suspect used advanced technological devices to decode frequencies and open vehicles, which he then used to travel to different towns and commit robberies in shops, forcing open cash registers.
The investigation, carried out by the ROCA Team of the Tarancón Company, linked the robberies in establishments with an increase in reports of vehicle theft, concluding that both types of offenses were allegedly committed by the same person. The final phase of the operation took place in the province of Toledo, where agents intercepted the suspect driving a vehicle despite never having obtained a driving license.
During the intervention, 19 cars and a variety of specialized equipment were recovered, including diagnostic tools, frequency decoders, keys, clothing used in the robberies, and vehicle parts intended for the second-hand market. The combined value of the recovered items, stolen money, and damages caused is estimated at around 350,000 euros.
The operation has helped to clarify criminal acts committed in numerous localities in Cuenca and municipalities in the neighboring provinces of Toledo and Madrid. The detainee has been handed over to judicial authorities along with the proceedings and the seized material.
