A spokesperson for Madrid's Popular Party has defended the decision not to invite the Spanish Government to the Dos de Mayo events, arguing that the central executive "insults" and seeks to "destroy" the regional president.

During the institutional act held at the Real Casa de Correos, the spokesperson for Madrid's PP directly pointed fingers at a Government representative in Madrid, accusing them of using their position to "permanently attack or insult" the Community.

"If someone intends to use their institution to engage in partisan politics, they are certainly not welcome."

The spokesperson insisted that the strained relations were not caused by the Community, but by the Central Government, which they accuse of trying to harm Madrid since the beginning of the pandemic.
Furthermore, they harshly criticized the President of the Government, labeling him as "the main gangrene and cancer this country has." This criticism was contrasted with the image of a Community of Madrid described as "plural and open."
Finally, the spokesperson for the Popular Party also reproached the left for their lack of enthusiasm regarding the region's progress, accusing them of always aligning with the Government of Spain.
