The industry in the Community of Madrid has shown remarkable strength at the start of the year, recording a 3.7% increase in its turnover during February, in contrast to the national average which experienced a 2.7% decline.

According to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the Madrid region is positioned as one of the autonomous communities with the best industrial performance in the country. This 3.7% growth in February 2025 places Madrid 6.4 percentage points above the national average.
Only Castilla y León, with 3.4%, and Cantabria, with 2.4%, approached Madrid's growth figures. On the opposite end, regions like the Balearic Islands plummeted by 19.3%, Asturias fell by 11.7%, and Extremadura retreated by 9.2%. These results solidify Madrid's leading position in the year-on-year growth ranking for industrial turnover in February.
The robustness of Madrid's industry becomes even more evident when analyzing the accumulated annual figures. While the sector's turnover in Madrid has grown by 0.3% so far this year, the national average has accumulated a 4.5% decline. This difference widens the gap between the capital and the rest of the country to 4.8 percentage points.

Although Madrid may not be the first community that comes to mind when discussing industry in Spain, its numbers at the beginning of this year demonstrate superior resilience compared to other regions with a stronger manufacturing tradition.

The INE report offers a favorable outlook for the region, highlighting its ability to maintain growth in a context where Spanish industry faces a weak start to the year in terms of turnover. Madrid not only sustains its growth in February but also closes the accumulated annual period in positive territory, albeit moderately.
