The recent celebration of Holy Week in Madrid has surpassed all municipal expectations, consolidating the capital as the main national tourist destination, as stated by Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida.

Speaking at the presentation of the Office of Information and Support for Families with Minors with Disabilities (OIFAMDIS), the Madrid mayor emphasized that despite the massive influx of visitors, public services were not overwhelmed. The efficient management of security and emergency protocols ensured that no significant incidents occurred, allowing the festivities to proceed smoothly.

"The exceeding of forecasts did not in any case lead to an overwhelming of public services because, regardless of the immense number of people, there were practically no incidents."

Martínez-Almeida expressed his gratitude to the security and emergency services for their impeccable work, as well as to the brotherhoods and fraternities for their annual dedication, which helps project the best image of the city. Although final figures are not yet available, the mayor anticipated that the economic impact of this Holy Week has been higher than in previous years, even exceeding expectations for 2025.
Favorable weather also played a crucial role in this success. The mayor highlighted the pride Madrid feels in becoming the main national tourist destination during this period, competing with cities that offer attractions such as sun and beach or other deeply traditional Holy Week celebrations.
