The visitors, a total of 102 professionals, showed particular interest in areas such as Neonatology and Pediatrics, Maternal-Child Health, and advancements in interoperability and digital transformation within the Madrid healthcare system. Nearly 60% of participants held management positions in Health Ministries and general directorates, 25% were specialist doctors (primarily in pediatrics, neonatology, gynecology, and obstetrics), and the remaining 15% included nursing professionals and heads of quality and humanization.
The delegations were interested in both care provision and research. In the care aspect, they learned about the work across the three levels of care, including highly complex university hospitals such as Gregorio Marañón, Ramón y Cajal, Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda, 12 de Octubre, La Paz, and Clínico San Carlos. They also visited the Fundación Alcorcón complex, the Infantil Universitario Niño Jesús, and the Asociado Universitario de Guadarrama.
Inquiries were also made about the organizational model of Primary Care, with visits to Health Centers like Santa Mónica, Isla de Oza, Barrio del Pilar, and Las Tablas. Additionally, they were informed about the operational capabilities of the Madrid Medical Emergency Service, SUMMA 112.
Another point of interest was the Regional Transplant Coordination Office, which works with high-complexity hospitals and donor centers.
Regarding the research capacity of Madrid's public healthcare system, the delegations learned about the functioning of the Gregorio Marañón Health Research Institute.
