Madrid's Cultural Venues Shine with 19 Nominations at the Talía Awards

Eleven productions from municipal centers like Teatro Español and Centro Danza Matadero have been recognized in the fourth edition of the awards.

Cultural venues managed by the Madrid City Council have achieved significant recognition, securing 19 nominations at the fourth edition of the Talía Awards, with the ceremony scheduled for May 18.

A total of eleven shows from municipal centers have been selected for these prestigious accolades. Among the highlighted venues are Centro Danza Matadero, Teatro Español, Nave 10 Matadero, Teatro Fernán Gómez, Centro Cultural de la Villa, and Contemporánea Condeduque.
The Teatro Español and Centro Danza Matadero lead the nominations list, each with six candidacies. The play Esencia, a co-production of Teatro Español and Entrecajas Producciones, is vying for three awards in the text theater category, including best show and best authorship for Ignacio García May.
In the acting categories, Pablo Derqui has been nominated for best lead actor for his role in Un tranvía llamado deseo, a Teatro Español production. Similarly, Nathalie Poza and Irene Escolar are among the nominees for best lead actress for their work in productions associated with the Teatro Español.
Centro Danza Matadero has contributed three productions that collectively earned six nominations. The works La mort i la primavera by La Veronal, and Calentamiento, are candidates for best dance show. The latter also received nominations for best female dance performance and best choreography for Rocío Molina, who shares the nomination for best stage direction with Pablo Messiez.
Finally, at Nave 10 Matadero, the play Vendrán los alienígenas y tendrán tus ojos has been nominated for best text theater show and best authorship for María Velasco. Another project from this venue, Mihura: el último comediógrafo, secured a nomination for Esperanza Elipe as best supporting actress.
