The initiative, promoted by the Culture, Tourism and Sports Area, will extend through districts such as Tetuán, Ciudad Lineal, Vicálvaro, Salamanca, Carabanchel, Centro, Chamartín, Barajas, Hortaleza, Puente de Vallecas, Retiro, Moncloa-Aravaca, and Fuencarral-El Pardo.
The program kicks off on May 5 with the creative sound fiction workshop ¿Qué está sonando? at the María Zambrano Municipal Public Library in Tetuán, which will be repeated on May 22 at the Gloria Fuertes Municipal Public Library in Barajas. As part of the Artistic Education Week, symbolic illustration workshops like La poética de las cosas will be held in libraries in Ciudad Lineal and Vicálvaro on May 18, 19, and 21. The creative writing workshop Escribir con sentido will also be offered in Carabanchel and Centro on May 20 and 21, and a Fanzine Laboratory at the Francisco Ibáñez Municipal Public Library in Chamartín on May 22.
Music will have its space with the Band for vibes workshop on May 19 at the David Gistau Municipal Library in Salamanca, and a jazz fusion concert by the quintet Sinouj on May 22 at the Carril del Conde Cultural Center in Hortaleza. On May 23, the Peña Gorbea Boulevard in Puente de Vallecas will host the literary cabins of Proyecto Cultura, a theatrical experience. On the same day, the terrace of the Casa de Vacas Cultural Center in Retiro will be the stage for the performance Generación de sueños de cumbia, a collaboration with House of Gad and POM Condeduque.
The participatory cycle Tú diriges la orquesta will return on May 23 to the Castillo de la Alameda in Barajas, featuring musicians from the European Youth Orchestra of Madrid (OJEM) Cultural Association. On May 24, the company La Cacharra will present the participatory experience JACA DE …? Soy la reina de la pista. Quisiera hablar de…? in Retiro. On May 25, the Portuguese female collective CRUA will offer a concert at the Faro de Moncloa, and on May 26, a stop-motion workshop will be held at the Francisco Ibáñez Municipal Public Library in Chamartín. A espadrille sewing workshop will take place on May 27 at the Pablo Neruda Municipal Public Library in Ciudad Lineal.
To close the month, on May 29, the Casa de Vacas Cultural Center in Retiro will host the folklore collaboration Quien baila no pena: romería y verbena por El Retiro, with La Tremolina and Arrabel. On the same day, a roller dance party with a live DJ will be held at the Las Tablas hockey rink in Fuencarral-El Pardo. On May 30, DJs Chantssss and Nara is Neus will offer an open-air listening session on the terrace of the Casa de Vacas Cultural Center.
