The initiative, approved this week, aims to strengthen the healthcare response to disorders resulting from substance use. Of the 50 authorized places, 40 will be integrated into residential resources, offering 24-hour support throughout the year for cases requiring intensive and continuous intervention.
The remaining 10 places will be allocated to a day hospital specialized in detoxification and rehabilitation processes. This service will operate from Monday to Friday, between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, allowing users to receive structured treatment without the need for permanent admission, thereby facilitating the maintenance of their personal autonomy.
This expansion adds to the existing infrastructure of the Addiction Care Network, which already manages 60 inpatient posts and 40 day hospital places. Furthermore, the network includes 24 Addiction Treatment Centers, which served nearly 14,000 patients last year, and 180 places in residential facilities for individuals with persistent addiction histories.
The program also includes care for groups in situations of social vulnerability, including those with associated mental health disorders or at risk of exclusion, to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment and promote social reintegration.
