The Community of Madrid will bestow the Grand Cross of the Order of Dos de Mayo upon fourteen distinguished individuals and entities on May 2nd, in a ceremony acknowledging their significant impact across various sectors of Madrid society.

Among the honorees are Enrique Cerezo, president of Atlético de Madrid; motorsport driver Carlos Sainz; and Dr. José Eugenio Guerrero, head of the ICU at Gregorio Marañón University Hospital, recognized for his critical work during the pandemic.
The Governing Council approved these distinctions last Wednesday, and the awards ceremony will take place at the Real Casa de Correos. The event will be part of the institutional act for the Day of the Community, presided over by Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
The spokesperson for the regional government, Miguel Ángel García Martín, announced the names of the recipients. In addition to those already mentioned, the Community will honor Madrid-born Paralympic skier Audrey Pascual, painter Augusto Ferrer-Dalmau, and the historic commercial firm La Pajarita, recognized for its deep roots in Madrid's traditional commerce.
These decorations aim to acknowledge significant careers in diverse fields such as sports, healthcare, culture, and business. Dr. Guerrero, for instance, is honored for his leadership in the Gregorio Marañón ICU during the most critical months of the health crisis, when the hospital was a key point in Madrid's emergency response.
The Dos de Mayo ceremony holds great symbolic importance for the region, and the autonomous Executive uses this occasion to pay tribute to those who, from their respective sectors, have contributed to projecting Madrid's image or have provided outstanding service to society.
