From April 30th to May 3rd, the region will offer a series of free activities that merge tradition with modernity. The central event will be “Madrid in the Sky,” a 12-minute show in the Cuña Verde de Latina, where a thousand drones will form 10 scenes and 16 figures inspired by Madrid's history and heritage.
“"The program aims to showcase an open and welcoming region, combining tradition and modernity."
The commemoration will also revive the 1808 uprising with a grand historical reenactment that will tour emblematic spots such as the Puerta del Sol, Alcalá Street, and the Puente del Rey. This event will feature parades, horses, carriages, and historical scenes like the defense of the Monteleón barracks, bringing the capital back to one of its most decisive moments.
Music will play a prominent role at the Puente del Rey, hosting concerts by artists such as Bely Basarte, Judeline, Alcalá Norte, joseluis, Lobos Negros, and Berkana. Additionally, the cultural offerings will include a zarzuela concert by the ORCAM, the first Folklore Encounter, the screening of the film Rondallas, and the traditional Fiesta de Las Mayas, with activities in various municipalities. The “Música en el aire” program will bring municipal band concerts to different towns.
This year's official poster integrates recognizable symbols of the region, such as the Puerta del Sol, the Madrilenian cat, the stars of the flag, and Goyaesque elements, reflecting Madrid's cultural identity.
